Greetings, my name is John Meeks, after fishing the beautiful Salmon River in Pulaski NY for over 30 years, I decided to follow in my father's footsteps and become a licensed guide passing on the knowledge that has been taught to me. Whether you are fishing for the first time or a seasoned angler I will help you learn or improve on any level. My goal is to provide an unforgettable fishing experience. I specialize in fishing for King and Coho salmon on the DSR, and when the salmon run is over we will be targeting Steelhead.
One of the things I like to teach is how to land the salmon without the use of a net. While this increases the difficulty, I find anglers appreciate this rewarding challenge.
What to bring and what I supply
For a successful and enjoyable day on the river you will need the following:
- A valid fishing license
- Waders with spiked soles or "Korkers"
- A belt for outside the waders
- Eye protection or polarized sunglasses
- Dress in layers and bring a raincoat
- Snacks and drinks
I will provide the following:
- DSR passes
- 10' Fly Rods with Billy Pate Reels
- All flies and tackle needed
- Bottled water and apples
